Amanda and Mark....

Today friends of our's Mark Despain and Amanda Kay Leavitt (Now Despain) were married and sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Amanda and her family used to be our next door neighbor's here in Magna - In Danbury Cir.

They moved away when Amanda was quite young. And now she is all grown up and a Married woman. My mom and i were able to drive up to Layton tonight for their reception. It was good to go and see and congratulate the Bride and Groom and see their family. My favorite part of the reception was when the Bride and Groom had their first dance as husband and wife. They danced to I cross my heart by George Strait and you could see the Groom was singing the song to his beautiful bride. How sweet!

Congratulations Amanda and Mark!! and Best Wishes for a long, happy and successful life, marriage and family. We love you! Thank you for letting us be apart of your day.

Outpouring of the Spirit

"The dedication of the Kirtland Temple [occurred] on March 27, 1836. One of those present was 28-year-old William Draper, who described the day as a 'day of Pentecost.' He wrote: 'There was such a time of the outpouring of the Spirit of the Lord, that my pen is inadequate to write it in full or my tongue to express it. But I will here say that the Spirit was poured out and came like a mighty rushing wind and filled the house, that many that were present spoke in tongues and had visions and saw angels and prophesied, and had a general time of rejoicing such as had not been known in this generation' (William Draper, "A Biographical Sketch of the Life and Travels and Birth and Parentage of William Draper" [1881], typescript, Church History Library, 2; spelling and capitalization standardized)."These spiritual manifestations were not limited only to those inside the temple, for 'the people of the neighborhood came running together (hearing an unusual sound within, and seeing a bright light like a pillar of fire resting upon the Temple), and were astonished at what was taking place' (History of the Church, 2:428)."Lorenzo Snow (1814–1901), later to be President of the Church, was living in Kirtland during this blessed period. He observed, 'One would have imagined that after receiving these wonderful manifestations no temptation could have overthrown the Saints' (Lorenzo Snow, "Discourse," Deseret Weekly News, June 8, 1889, 26)."But, of course, great spiritual experiences do not make us exempt from opposition and trials."

Power of the Book of Mormon

Gaze into Heaven

Living God's commandments obligates a person to a life of goodness—goodness to society and a genuine helpfulness to humanity, and excluding from one's life hatred, enmity, immorality, selfishness, drunkenness, jealousy, and dishonesty. "May we experience the joy of regular attendance at sacrament meeting and feel the blessings of eternal progression in our personal lives through wholehearted compliance, in spirit and actions, with the sacred words of the sacrament. "The Prophet Joseph Smith taught: 'Reading the experience of others, . . . can never give us a comprehensive view of our condition and true relation to God. Knowledge of these things can only be obtained by experience through the ordinances of God set forth for that purpose. Could you gaze into heaven five minutes, you would know more than you would by reading all that ever was written on the subject.' (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, comp. Joseph Fielding Smith, Salt Lake City: Deseret Book Co., 1938, p. 324.) "The sacrament is one ordinance that allows us to experience a personal relationship to God and enlarges our knowledge and understanding of Him and His Only Begotten Son. "Our personal reward for compliance with the covenants and obligations in the ordinance of the sacrament becomes the companionship of God's Holy Spirit. This is the light that leads to eternal life. The divine virtues associated with the partaking of the Lord's Supper are to keep His divine life ever in mind; to love the Lord with all our heart, might, mind, and strength; and to labor to bring to pass His ultimate purpose—the eternal life of man."

Kayla Brooke Richhart

I want to write about my Niece Kayla. She turned 3 on Tuesday July 27th,2010 - Kayla made her debut to this world on Friday July 27,2007 at 5:26 AM she was welcomed with love by her two loving parents Jared and Lindsay who love her and love eachother so very much. And her big brother Dakota. And Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles and cousins who also love her so very much. Kayla has brought so much joy, happiness, and love to all those around her. She is one of the most sweetest little 3 year old's i know. She loves her brother, her mommy and daddy, grandparents and everyone.

She became a Big Sister a year in a half later on April 15th, 2009. Big Sister to Ashlee who she just loves.
We hope and pray we will always be worthy to have Kayla in our lives and us to be in and apart of her's.

Happy Birthday Kayla

We all love you!!!

Happy Birthday Kayla

I am a Day Late... I apologize. Yesterday was my cute and adorable niece Kayla's birthday she turned 3! Kayla was born July 27, 2007 @ 5:26 AM at LDS Hospital. She weighed 6 pounds 3 ounces and approximately 19 1/2 inches long.

We love you so much Kayla! Happy Birthday!

For Kayla's birthday Grandma (my mom) and i took Kayla out to lunch at Kayla's favorite place McD's (McDonalds) and then went to the Mall (The new Valley Fair Mall). She had so much fun running around and just spending time with Aunt Heidi and Grandma. She even found her Grandpa Richhart a Sweet Deal! at FANZZ!! 50% off our favorite Basketball team shirts yes, Kayla's team is the Lakers!!!

I thought i left the camera home so unfortunately i did not get any pictures at McD's so i apologize that there are no pictures from there and the most part at the mall. However when i discovered the camera was in the purse i did get two pictures of Kayla riding on the toy's at the mall. Later on the whole family (well alot of the family) got together at Jared and Lindsay's for Kayla's birthday party. We had yummy hamburgers, chips, salads and cake.

24th of July Highlights...

Well the 24th of July was on Saturday. Pioneer Day! we celebrate here in Utah. We celebrate the Pioneer's settling here in the West.
So in celebration of that day here is my highlight's. I was invited to a Pioneer Day celebration and breakfast that my brother and sister in law's ward hosts every Pioneer Day and i was also able to spend the day with my 2 cute nieces and Brother and Sister in law.

Language of Prayer

"A revelation given in 1830, the year the Church was organized, directs that the elder or priest who administers the sacrament 'shall kneel . . . and call upon the Father in solemn prayer, saying:" 'O God, the Eternal Father, we ask thee in the name of thy Son, Jesus Christ.' (D&C 20:76–77, 79.)"The prayer offered at the dedication of the Kirtland Temple in 1836 is another model that illustrates the language of prayer used by the Prophet Joseph Smith:" 'And now, Holy Father, we ask thee to assist us, thy people, with thy grace, in calling our solemn assembly, . . ." 'That thy glory may rest down upon thy people and upon this thy house, which we now dedicate to thee, that it may be sanctified and consecrated to be holy, and that thy holy presence may be continually in this house.' (D&C 109:10, 12.)"This prophetic model of the language of prayer has been faithfully followed in all of the sacred petitions by which the prophets have dedicated temples to the Lord. Exactly one hundred years ago this week, at a spot not far from where I stand, President Wilford Woodruff began the dedicatory prayer of the Salt Lake Temple with these words:" 'Our Father in heaven, thou who hast created the heavens and the earth, and all things that are therein; thou most glorious One, . . . we, thy children, come this day before thee, and in this house which we have built to thy most holy name, humbly plead the atoning blood of thine Only Begotten Son, that our sins may be remembered no more against us forever, but that our prayers may ascend unto thee and have free access to thy throne, that we may be heard in thy holy habitation.' (As quoted by Gordon B. Hinckley, Ensign, Mar. 1993, p. 2.)"

“ ‘Moral discipline’ [means] self-discipline based on moral standards. Moral discipline is the consistent exercise of agency to choose the right because it is right, even when it is hard. Favored People

"The Prophet Joseph Smith said: 'The building up of Zion is a cause that has interested the people of God in every age; it is a theme upon which prophets, priests and kings have dwelt with peculiar delight; they have looked forward with joyful anticipation to the day in which we live; and fired with heavenly and joyful anticipations they have sung and written and prophesied of this our day; but they died without the sight; we are the favored people that God has made choice of to bring about the Latter-day glory' (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Smith [Melchizedek Priesthood and Relief Society course of study, 2007], 186)."Zion is both a place and a people."

That Testimony or That Feeling

"Let me tell you something I learned when I was about . . . six or seven years old. My brother and I (we were about the same age) walked to the stake conference together. I can still go in that building in Brigham City and go back just under the balcony, and say, 'I was sitting about there when it happened.' "What was it that happened? There was a man speaking at the pulpit, Elder George Albert Smith. He was a member of the Council of the Twelve at that time. I do not remember what he said, whether he was talking about the Word of Wisdom, or about repentance, or about baptism. But somehow while he was speaking it was fixed in my little-boy mind that there stood a servant of the Lord. I have never lost that testimony or that feeling. In my mind I came to know that he was an apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ. ". . . Although I sit now in the Council of the Twelve, I have never lost that feeling about these men. Often when we meet in the Council, I look around the circle and know again that these are the apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ upon the earth. They are special witnesses of him."

Chains of Bondage Will Fall

"Millions of ordinances are performed in the temples each year in behalf of our deceased loved ones. May we continue to be faithful in performing such ordinances for those who are unable to do so for themselves. I love the words of President Joseph F. Smith as he spoke of temple service and of the spirit world beyond mortality. Said he, 'Through our efforts in their behalf their chains of bondage will fall from them, and the darkness surrounding them will clear away, that light may shine upon them and they shall hear in the spirit world of the work that has been done for them by their [people] here, and will rejoice with you in your performance of these duties' (Joseph F. Smith, in Conference Report, Oct. 1916, 6)."Brothers and sisters, the Church continues to grow, as it has since being organized over 179 years ago. It is changing the lives of more and more people every year and is spreading far and wide over the earth as our missionary force seeks out those who are looking for the truths which are found in the gospel of Jesus Christ. We call upon all members of the Church to befriend the new converts, to reach out to them, to surround them with love, and to help them feel at home."

Search the Scriptures and Pray

"Many of us find ourselves seeking the light of truth. Just as the world was prepared for the Restoration, each of us is prepared to receive the light of the gospel in our own lives. Sometimes that preparation comes through a change in our circumstances—through meeting a new friend, moving to a new community, a change of employment, the birth of a child, the death of a loved one, illness, misfortune, and even tragedy."During these times of transition, we seek answers to the important questions of life: Who are we? Where did we come from? Why are we here on earth? And where are we going after we die? Joseph [Smith] was not born with this knowledge, and neither were we. We must find it."Like Joseph, we must search the scriptures and pray. For many, this means overcoming feelings of doubt and unworthiness, being humble, and learning to exercise faith."

Searching the Scriptures

"The Bible, in our present format, totals just under sixteen hundred printed pages from multiple authors. To these have been added nearly nine hundred other printed pages of scripture through the Prophet Joseph Smith—more than from all the writings of Moses, Paul, Luke, and Mormon combined, as these are available today—illustrating the quantitative significance of what has come to us through the Restoration. . . . "Before the Restoration, the void was very real. Prior to meeting Joseph Smith, Brigham Young said he would have crawled around the earth on his hands and knees to meet someone like Moses who could tell him anything 'about God and heaven.' (In Journal of Discourses, 8:228.) Through Joseph Smith we have additional pages from Moses about God and heaven. We have only to reach to the bookshelf or go to priesthood meeting. Perhaps the way is almost too easy and too simple; we might be more appreciative if on hands and knees. (See 1 Ne. 17:41.) Only by searching the scriptures, not using them occasionally as quote books, can we begin to understand the implications as well as the declarations of the gospel."

Venturesome Spirit

"Margaret [McNeil Ballard] was just ten when her family left Scotland and started for Utah. 'I was . . . somewhat of a venturesome spirit,' she wrote. . . . The journey held more than enough drama to suit her. From Liverpool to New York, she cooked for and took care of her seasick family. Later, all the McNeil children except Margaret caught the measles."Once, the McNeil wagon was delayed by runaway oxen, but Margaret was sent ahead to join the main part of the company with four-year-old James strapped to her back. That evening, she recorded, 'A kind lady helped me take my brother off my back and I sat up and held him on my lap.' In the morning, people in the company shared bacon and bread with her and James. . . .". . . Margaret was charged with caring for the family cow. Wakening early, she would hurry the cow ahead of the company so it could eat in the grassy places along the way. Then, as the company caught up with and passed her, she would hurry the cow along to catch up. 'Being alone much of the time,' she wrote, 'I had to get across the rivers the best I could. Our cow was a Jersey and had a long tail. When it was necessary to cross the rivers I would wind the end of the cow's tail around my hand and swim across . . . with the cow.' "

Remember and reverence the sacrament

Lessons of the Past

"Former United States president Ronald Reagan has been quoted as saying, 'I do not want to go back to the past; I want to go back to the past way of facing the future' (quoted in George F. Will, "One Man's America," Cato Policy Report, Sept.–Oct. 2008, 11). His counsel still resonates within me. There is something about reviewing the lessons of the past to prepare us to face the challenges of the future. What a glorious legacy of faith, courage, and ingenuity those noble early Mormon pioneers have left for us to build upon. My admiration for them deepens the longer I live."Embracing the gospel resulted in a complete change of life for them. They left everything behind—their homes, their businesses, their farms, and even their beloved family members—to journey into a wilderness. It must have been a real shock when Brigham Young announced, 'This is the . . . place.' Before them was a vast desert wasteland, barren of green hills, trees, and beautiful meadows which most of those early pioneers had known. With firm faith in God and their leaders, the early pioneers went to work to create beautiful communities in the shadows of the mountains."Many weary pioneers had just started to enjoy some of the modest comforts of life when Brigham Young called them to leave their homes again and journey to the east, to the west, to the north, and to the south to colonize the Great Basin."

I guess if any one of my reader's or anyone who may have seen my post can somehow send the post to me or something then that would be awesome.

So sorry
